About
I grew up in the city of Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan and fondly known as “the Pink City” (an epithet it acquired after the reigning monarch, Maharaja Sawai Ram Singh II, ordered the buildings to be painted in pink hue - symbolizing hospitality - in welcome of Prince Albert in 1876).
My alma mater is St. Xaviers, where I finished the first 12 yrs of my education after which I graduated with a degree in Commerce from the University of Rajasthan. In the first stage of my career, I pursued a professional degree in Chartered Accountancy for a few years while working at Chartered Accountancy firms. But eventually, I found my way into the domain of Data Science.
I started my Data Science journey in 2019 when I enrolled in a course (Data Science using Python, R and Excel) offered by XLRI, Jamshedpur through its Virtual Learning Programme, which I went on to complete successfully. What drew me to Data Science was its emphasis on detail-oriented analysis and leveraging that to build stories extracted from the data. Another part that I enjoy about Data Science and its related programming is the focus on problem-solving using statistical and mathematical concepts.
My ambition is to become a fully functioning Data Scientist who is well versed in the Statistical concepts, but I have to cover a lot of ground before I reach there. Towards that end, I have been building up my knowledge base in Statistics and Programming through studying from books like:
a) Basic Business Statistics by PK Vishwanathan, Levine, Szabat, Stephan
b) Introduction to Statistical Learning by James, Witten, Hastie, Tibshirani
and other online resources.
I am looking for an opportunity in Data Analytics or Data Science (at any rung) that will help me in consolidating on statistical knowledge and data science concepts.
